Ammanford Town Centre Cleaning

At the start of 2025, R&T Exterior Cleaning Services were awarded a contract through our client on behalf of Ammanford (Carmarthenshire) Council to clean a large area of the town centre including walkways and canopies of the Carpark plus the main high street with the addition of specialist chewing gum removal services.
The areas to clean included Perspex canopies, paving slabs, block paving and tarmac. The aim of the project was to clean and restore the look of the town centre and main carpark as part of a larger renovation project that included painting and installation of new coloured tarmac.
The location and high volume of pedestrian and vehicle traffic meant that the cleaning process presented unique challenges and a diverse range of problems to overcome that required high attention to detail and reliability. For example, providing a safe working area, water access to the cleaning area, controlling run off and how to control traffic and pedestrians.
Our trained operatives and processes allowed us to control the flow of traffic, create safe working areas and provide a service that exceeded the client’s expectations. We gave a 4 week timescale for completion and finished the project within 3.5 weeks.
The services that we provided included high pressure jet washing using our specialist cleaning equipment, low pressure canopy cleaning using a reach and wash system safely from the ground and chewing gum removal using an eco-friendly steam method that allowed us to work around pedestrians.
Over 5,000 pieces of chewing gum were individually cleaned along the main high street over a 48 hour period and over 4500m2 in total were cleaned over the 3.5 weeks.

CARMARTHEN VETERINARY HOSPITAL

Our team were given the contract to clean the outside cladding, walls and windows plus the interior of high-level gutters of the Carmarthen Veterinary Hospital.

We used a reach and wash system safely from the ground to clean the walls, windows and cladding and started early in the morning to avoid disruption of the practice which operates as both a vets and also equine and farm vets.

The chemicals used needed to be safely neutralised so there was no risk to the public or animals visiting the practice.

The high level guttering was done using two methods, either safely from the ground using a commercial gutter vacuum or using a Cherry Picker where needed allowing us to safely clear and clean the gutters restoring both appearance and function of the gutter systems.

GARNANT, GLANAMMAN, LLANDOVERY & NEWCASTLE EMLYN TOWN CENTRE CLEANING, BUS STOPS AND ROADSIGNS

R&T Exterior Cleaning were awarded a project to clean the main streets of Llandovery and Newcastle Emlyn, sections of Garnant and Glanamman along with the Bus Stops and Road signs in those areas.

Our client, Carmarthenshire County Council had made it clear that the project was under time constraints however were impressed by the service we provided in Ammanford so were happy for us to get started as soon as we could.

Main problems on the project were the traffic, pedestrian access and working around the businesses that operated in the areas to be cleaned.

We split the project into 2 sections:

Section 1 was to clean the bus stops and road signs in all 4 towns. This was done with a reach and wash system using eco-friendly cleaning detergents that are not harmful to the environment or animals as all areas had a lot of pedestrian traffic. We carefully planned the route we would take to clean each bus stop and worked in such a way that we were never at a bus stop when a bus would arrive, mitigating any risk and disruption to the bus timetable.

Section 2 was the cleaning of the streets and any paved areas in the 4 towns. This included a large carpark in Llandovery and the main streets in both Newcastle Emlyn and Llandovery along with various pedestrian block paved areas in Garnant and Glanamman.

We used our specialist pressure washing equipment combined with extensive planning and preparation to ensure we had the areas cleaned to the highest standard using only eco-friendly methods and chemicals with minimal disturbance to businesses and the public.

On a few occasions we even went a step further and cleared out some blocked drains in Llandovery and Newcastle Emlyn that residents had been complaining about and were causing problems with standing water. This ethos of going the extra mile is what separates us from a lot of other cleaning companies out there and enabled our team to build a solid rapport with the locals and local business owners.
